Young Living Essential Oils resonate with me on every level.

From their unique Seed to Seal® process that ensures the purity of their 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils, to the uncompromising ethical standards by which the company operates.

Young Living has been around for 25 years, with their therapeutic grade essential oils (over 130 in Australia alone) being their benchmark. They always put the quality of their products before profits. They don't cut corners and don't use chemical solvents or high temperatures during their distillation process to extract more oil which impact and reduce the key constituents (this is the life-force of the plant!).

They don’t use fractional distillation (which results in a sweeter more pleasing scent but removes a part of the synergy of the molecules that make them work best together), or rectification (adding in other plant species to match previous batches testing reports or for scent).

Young Living have a team dedicated to ensure all their farms comply with The Lacey Act of 1900 which is a conservation law in the United States that prohibits trade in wildlife, fish, and plants that have been illegally taken, possessed, transported, or sold.

In the market today where 'essential oils' are all the rage, this is something that is difficult to control, and many essential oils brokers may not even be aware that this is happening.

Young Living has their own farms, and have partnered with many others across the world, to ensure that the quality of the essential oil is not compromised at any stage within the process, and that they are harvested sustainably and re-planted to ensure a future supply.  This is crucial because a common question is that plants should only be grown natively and/or wildcrafted, but this may lead to over-harvesting and extinction of certain plant species! Here are 2 powerful stories:

To ensure the purest, most authentic oil possible, Young Living’s Sacred Sandalwood essential oil comes from the highly sought-after Santalum album tree species transplanted from its native home in India to their partner farm in Australia, which has a similar landscape and climate. From there, each step of the cultivation process is closely regulated and monitored according to their strict Seed to Seal® guidelines.

Helichrysum was taken off the endangered species list after Young Living partnered with a farm in Croatia to plant over a million seedlings. To this day, an additional 400 families within Croatia with Helichrysum farms have chosen to partner with Young Living to supply this precious oil.

For me as a health coach, it means I can authentically recommend this company and their products as I use them first-hand on my own family, and know exactly what I'm putting onto their skin and into their bodies. And as a mum - well words can't describe it, I only want the most pristine ingredients and quality products to touch their skin. There are so many chemicals in our world today - in our air, water, EMF, food, personal care products, medication etc - and we can only control our exposure to these to a certain degree, so I'm doing the best I can for what I can control in our home.

The Young Living Seed to Seal® process sets the standard for authenticity and purity!

Millions around the world have discovered that a drop of pure essential oil can change everything for the better. Young Living is committed to establishing and maintaining the ultimate, industry-leading standard in essential oil products, so their work can keep changing lives as it has for two decades.

Sourcing, Science and Standards are the three aspects of production, which as part of the Seed to Seal® process, is how Young Living delivers pure therapeutic grade essential oils.

This process includes sourcing the healthiest seeds, cultivating each plant at the optimum time, distilling at the temperate and duration to extract the essential oils containing the maximum key constituents for each plant, using state-of-the-art and specialised essential oil testing equipment and testing against a comprehensive database with over 20 years worth of data (and not against data based on synthetic essential oil compounds), and then bottling it themselves.

Sourcing

Because synthetics, contaminants, cheap fillers, and unethical production practices are not an option for the products in your home, Young Living Executive Vice President of Operations Lauren Walker guides the process of sourcing products from carefully vetted suppliers and testing them extensively. If the exhaustive tests show that a product doesn’t meet our standards, Young Living don’t buy it or they reject the batch.

Partnership Principles

Young Living source from corporate-owned farms, as well as partner farms and Seed to Seal-certified suppliers. This empowers them to source conscientiously and with sensitivity to local communities and ecosystems. They vet and select our like-minded suppliers according to five principles: Established Relationships, Seed to Seal Specifications, Binding Agreements, Stringent Testing, and Ongoing Audits

Formulation and Production

Young Living's superior oils and ingredients deserve facilities and formulas to match. Their expanded distribution center in Spanish Fork, Utah, is a state-of-the-art facility where they use best manufacturing practices to test essential oils, ingredients, and products and to formulate and manufacture the innovative offerings you love.

Third-party Substantiation

When it comes to Young Living's partnerships, they trust but verify. To ensure that inferior or unethically sourced ingredients don’t find their way to your door, they use an extensive, full-access system of internal and third-party audits to monitor our supply chain.

Science

Young Living insist on essential oils, products, and ingredients that have passed their stringent, unyielding quality benchmarks. Pure, genuine, effective ingredients that meet their demanding scientific standards are certainly more expensive, and formulating innovative offerings takes time, but they know you’ll appreciate authentic products that you can rely on without a second thought.

Industry-leading Research

While  product quality starts in the fields, it’s proven in the lab with research led by Chief Science Officer Dr. Mike Buch. With his team’s combined 180 years of experience, they use advanced testing processes in our state-of-the-art labs to ensure that an inferior product never slips by.

Third-party Testing

Product testing doesn’t take place exclusively in-house. Young Living also test product samples as needed with two independent, respected, and accredited labs that employ certified chemical analysts with over 300 years of combined laboratory experience.

Innovative Product Development

Young Living create their pure, effective formulas with the cleanest and most innovative ingredients available. They also focus on what’s not in the formulas. They've developed an expanding list of 20 potentially harmful or harsh additives that may appear in mainstream products but will never be found in their line. Get all the ingredients you want and none of the ones you don’t.

Standards

As the leaders of the modern essential oils movement and a close partner with the earth, it’s part of Young Living's stewardship to do business responsibly—from sustainably sourcing rare botanicals, to uplifting local communities, to going above and beyond to comply with local environmental rules. The goal? Offering a pure product that you know is part of a greater good.

Top-tier Standards

Inexpensive essential oils are often synthetic, adulterated, or unethically sourced, which is why Young Living choose to partner with sources they know produce pure essential oils and ingredients ethically and legally, setting a top-tier standard for sustainability.

Sustainable Compliance Program

Not only is Young Living's compliance program exhaustive, but it’s also the first of its kind in the industry. It is the gold standard for compliance programs, and they are proud to have gone above and beyond to establish it. They have engaged top legal experts around the world to keep them advised of the most current laws, as well as to inform them how to appropriately apply them to our most important business needs.

The program ultimately determines several specific legal factors associated with botanical harvesting in order to protect delicate landscapes, plants, and wildlife, including knowing where, how, how much to plant and harvest, and more. These steps provide even more evidence that Young Living is the industry leader in compliance.

Industry Green Leader

Young Living's efforts go beyond a conscientious supply chain. Their commitment to sustainable business includes reforestation of harvested trees; recycling at Young Living offices; and the construction of their brand-new, LEED-certified headquarters in Lehi, Utah. These efforts collectively add up to an industry-leading effort to respectfully partner with the earth.

Young Living Foundation

They have also established the Young Living Foundation which is dedicated to providing wellness and education opportunities to underserved communities.

Young Living completely covers the foundation's administrative costs, which ensures that 100% of all donations go directly to the foundation's projects and partnerships. From building schools, to purchasing mosquito nets and brick making machines and helping rebuild communities after natural disasters.

These are tangible efforts, with the Young Living founder often driving heavy machinery and directing construction on site, plus many staff and members that are there to assist in person.

Rebuild Nepal

The Nepal earthquakes of 2015 left a nation in shambles. In a matter of minutes, entire villages were flattened and thousands of lives destroyed. In response to the devastation, Founder D. Gary Young and the Young Living Foundation immediately put a plan into action.

In Yarsa, a mountain village completely destroyed by the earthquakes, the foundation is rebuilding 112 homes and two schools, supplying jobs to unemployed locals, providing new technology and education, and ultimately empowering the village and strengthening the community.
