Raw goji, orange and coconut slice

Raw goji, orange and coconut slice

This is definitely a little more 'gourmet' looking with the beautiful layers, but trust me when I say it's still super EASY to make! I don't even clean my food processor between the base and filling ;-)

As most of my recipes, it’s also grain-free, gluten-free , egg-free and dairy-free so most people are able to tolerate this. For a nut-free version simply use your favour seeds such as pepitas and sunflower seeds.  Adding the orange really adds something special I think too, though it's delicious without it too if you're not a jaffa fan! So enjoy, and have some fun creating these beautiful and tasty layers :-)

Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut is gaining popularity again as the message about the importance of gut-health is spread.

Sauerkraut is very rich in probiotics and beneficial bacteria that line the gut and help to build our immune system, and manufacture and assimilate vitamins.

The process of lactic acid fermentation used to transform salt and cabbage into sauerkraut increases vitamins, particularly vitamin C (around 400 times the amount once fermented!), B vitamins and food enzymes.

Kombucha

Kombucha

Kombucha is a sweet fermented tea that is very rich in probiotics and beneficial bacteria, antioxidants, digestive enzymes and vitamin B12. It has been fermented and brewed for over two millennia and has been said to have qualities that detoxify the body and energise the mind.

It’s a living beverage that is fermented using a blend of organic white, green or black tea (or blends), organic raw sugar (which is converted to healthy digestive enzymes during fermentation), and a Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast (commonly called the SCOBY or Mother). The SCOBY is a thick pancake of gelatinous bacteria and yeast that feasts on the tea and sugar converting it into health giving organic acids and creating an effervescent fermented beverage with a slight tang.

Coconut hot chocolate

Coconut hot chocolate

It’s finally winter in Brisbane and there’s nothing more I love than sitting down with a nice cup of hot chocolate at the end of a long day! And even better when you can make it as healthy as possible right?!

Adding cinnamon, cayenne pepper and honey (particularly Manuka) will boost your immune system, and I wrote about the benefits of using real cacao in the Raw chocolate mousse recipe - but in summary it’s good for you and is the main ingredient in chocolate so let’s get to the recipe!

Raw cashew blueberry cheesecake

Raw cashew blueberry cheesecake

My family has already requested that I make this delicious (but healthy!) dessert for Christmas! On a hot day there’s nothing more refreshing than this, and it’s also grain-free, gluten-free , egg-free and dairy-free so most people are able to tolerate this.

You can also change the flavours by using a different combination of nuts, and also play around with your favourite flavours of fruit, essential oils or citrus zest. For example, mango with lime (zest or essential oil) is really refreshing and a chocolate (and orange zest or essential oil) version using raw cacao is always popular ;-)

Coconut lime body scrub

Coconut lime body scrub

This is such an AMAZING and refreshing body scrub - perfect for our upcoming summer!

I’ve chosen Lime for this recipe, but all citrus oils may assist to detox the body and skin so you could substitute in any other essential oils including Lemon, Grapefruit, Orange, Tangerine, Bergamot or even the Young Living Citrus Fresh blend which has a hint of Spearmint!

Adding the epsom salt makes it more of a detoxing scrub, so you could add more of this in place of sugar, or if it’s for the face you may like to just use sugar which is a little softer.

Raw peppermint slice

Raw peppermint slice

This must be my most gourmet raw dessert yet - it just looks amazing and packs a punch of flavour!

It was inspired by a Food Matters recipe and thought I’d experiment with a peppermint essential oil recipe as I’m always using orange flavouring for raw desserts. And the outcome was pretty delicious!

What’s great about this is that all the ingredients are real and there are no hidden additives, flavours and colours. It’s full of healthy fats that will balance out the sweetness and keep you feeling satisfied so you won’t be hungry within half an hour!

Raw chocolate mousse

Raw chocolate mousse

When I first learnt about this recipe - I was soooo excited!! If you have a chocolate or sweet craving then this is one seriously healthy version of it, just make sure you use raw cacao (versus the processed version which is cocoa).

And this easy recipe is perfect just in time for Mother’s Day, and what a cheeky way to sneak in some healthy avocado into your kids (just make sure you blend it well to make sure there is no evidence of green avocado chunks)!
